EVENT PROGRAMME FOR THE WELSH VEGAN FESTIVAL 2018

Saturday – Cinema Room

12:00 – Hunt Investigation Team
HIT are committed to exposing the truth behind fox hunting, gamebird shooting, badger persecution and other cruel sports. This talk covers the aims of the group, about being a specialist covert blood sports investigations unit and the group’s exposés to date (including the South Herefordshire Hunt fox cub case).

12:45 – Speciesism the movie
The documentary takes viewers on a sometimes funny, sometimes frightening adventure, crawling through the bushes that hide these factories, flying in airplanes above their toxic “manure lagoons,” and coming face-to-face with their owners. After watching Speciesism: The Movie, you’ll never look at animals the same way again. Especially humans…

15:30 – To the Moon and Back
Across China and Vietnam, over 10,000 Asiatic black bears (moon bears), exist as prisoners in tiny coffin size cages. They’re forced to endure unimaginable pain for up to thirty years whilst their abdomens and gall bladders are penetrated with catheters to collect bile for traditional Asian medicine, beauty products and even wine.
This film is about one woman’s emotional, passionate and challenging journey to end this cruel practice and create an organisation to fight animal cruelty globally. Jill Robinson is truly one inspirational animal hero.

14:30 – Cowspiracy
Follow intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organisations are too afraid to talk about it. Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged.
